AMD ha reso disponiibile una nuova versione dei propri driver Catalyst, release 10.8 per schede video ATI Radeon dalla famiglia HD 2000 in poi. AMD dichiara alcuni incrementi prestazionali per configurazioni a singola scheda e CrossFireX per alcuni titoli, oltre a migliorie nella gestione dei flussi video ad alta definizione.

Tra le novità anche l'implementazione del supporto OpenGL ES 2.0, grazie al quale è possibile ottenere accelerazione 3D in browser compatibili con sistemi operativi Windows 7, Windows Vista e Windows XP. Al momento attuale alcune versioni beta dei più popolari browser in commercio implementano supporto OpenGL ES 2.0, pertanto il margine di applicabilità di questa tecnologia resta ancora circoscritto benchè interessante in prospettiva futura.

Video Quality default options

• The Default video options for ATI Catalyst have been greatly enhanced to deliver the best quality video viewing experience.  Users can also choose to apply these settings to Internet Video via a new checkbox control within the ATI Catalyst™ Control Center

Performance enhancement for Eyefinity Quad ATI CrossFireX™ configurations

• Performance has been greatly improved for users running with ATI Eyefinity on a Quad ATI CrossFireX™ configuration
