Nella giornata di ieri, come segnalato in questa notizia, AMD ha reso disponibile la versione 10.7 ufficiale dei driver Catalyst per schede video delle serie Radeon HD. Accanto a questi driver sono stati messi a disposizione anche driver beta, per sistemi operativi Windows 7-Vista e Windows XP, dotati di supporto OpenGL ES 2.0.

OpenGL Embedded Systems è una piattaforma per sistemi embedded che offre funzionalità 2D e 3D, tipicamente rivolta all'utilizzo in sistemi quali telefoni, console, tablet e PC per utilizzo automobilistico. La principale novità implementata nella release 2.0 delle OpenGL ES rispetto alla precedente 1.x è data dal supporto alla grafica 3D.

Questi nuovi driver permetteranno agli sviluppatori di creare applicazioni in ambiente OpenGL ES sfruttando gli shader programmabili delle GPU ATI Radeon HD. E' evidente come questo tipo di infrastruttura software potrà venir sfruttata al meglio con le prime soluzioni AMD della famiglia Fusion, che saranno orientate anche all'utilizzo in sistemi embedded oltre che in tradizionali soluzioni PC desktop e notebook.

The release of this software driver from AMD delivers support for the OpenGL ES 2.0 industry standard being developed to bring plug-in free 3D graphics to the Internet through open-source web browsers.

Instructions:
Download and install the ATI Catalyst beta driver from the following location:
